Episode 16 - Mike McCoy

My guest is Mike McCoy, founder of the once ubiquitous, lubriciously conspicuous, commandingly provocative and always entertaining Cher UK -- And that’s just one of the many bands he’s been in. There was The American People, The Service Industry, The Black Rabbits, Wood Roses and most recently, Mike McCoy’s Trompe l'oeil.

He was also the co-founder of the moveable musical feast, North vs South, which brought together an eclectic mix of bands and artists from Kansas City, Lawrence, Minneapolis and Austin.

Danger Bob played with Cher UK countless times over the years, including our first ever show in Kansas City when we opened for them at the legendary Davey’s Uptown Rambler’s Club.

Not surprisingly, we had a wide ranging conversation that got into a bit of Kansas City history, Dadaism, and of course music and songwriting.
