Episode 14 - Jacki Becker

Monday Sep 12, 2022

Monday Sep 12, 2022

You can’t discuss the LFK music scene without bringing Jacki into the story. Quite simply, she's a local music powerhouse. For starters, Jacki originated the iconic local music show Plow the Fields, Martha on KJHK. She then became one of the most dynamic and well-known booking agents of the 1990s, bringing countless national acts to the Bottleneck and Granada – often brilliantly pairing them with local artists. Later, she established her own promotions company, Up to Eleven Productions, expanding her scope regionally while still focusing on the Lawrence scene. Jacki was an early and outspoken supporter of Danger Bob and undeniably had a hand in the success we saw back in the day.

Monday Sep 05, 2022

Heather is the bass player for Cher UK and was a member of the band in what many refer to as their heyday. She toured extensively with the band and played on their first LP "She's a Weird Little Snack" and the follow-up "Go-Go Fish."  Since leaving the band, Heather's led an adventurous life, working as a merchant marine and eventually becoming a captain of her own ship.

Episode 12 - Jeff Petterson

Monday Aug 29, 2022

Monday Aug 29, 2022

If you lived in NE Kansas in the 90s and you ever turned on your radio you probably know Jeff Petterson's voice. Remember Bob O and Spacin' Jason from the Lazer? Then you know Jeff. He began his career at KU's KJHK, working his way up to program director and eventually became one of the Lazer's star jocks. Jeff's contribution to the local music scene can't be overstated. First as a fan and then his position at two of the best radio stations in the nation enabled him to turn the spotlight on the LFK music scene. If that wasn't enough, he founded Noisome Records featuring local bands such as The Bubble Boys and Ultimate Fakebook.

Episode 11 - j. hall

Monday Aug 22, 2022

Monday Aug 22, 2022

My guest for this episode is recording engineer, mixer and producer, j. hall. Jason, as I know him, recorded our final album Girls of the Big 12. Before we got to him, j. hall recorded music for Lawrence's own, PAW. Since then, he's built a successful recording career in Nashville. Jason is as full of energy as he's ever been and it was a delight to talk with him.

Episode 10 - Ed Rose

Monday Aug 15, 2022

Monday Aug 15, 2022

My conversation with Ed Rose. If you don't know Ed by name, you know him by the bands he's recorded and produced: Stick, Kill Creek, Tenderloin, Ultimate Fakebook, Frogpond, Coalesce, Casket Lottery, to really just name a few. Oh... and Danger Bob. Ed engineered our first three LPs: The Joshua Tree, Le Pop Shoppe, and MegaVega$. Ed arguably created the LFK sound of the 90s as well as the early millennial sound of The Get Up Kids, The Anniversary, and Appleseed Cast.

Episode 9 - Andy Morton (Part 3)

Wednesday Aug 10, 2022

Wednesday Aug 10, 2022

This episode features my ongoing conversation with Andy Morton. This one’s decidedly more wide ranging than the others – we’re kind of all over the map. We talk about when Kenny joined the band, the making of our second album Le Pop Shoppe, how our  songwriting developed, and how the band changed over the years, including some missteps in what was supposed to be our breakout record MegaVega$.

Episode 8 - Steve Graber

Thursday Aug 04, 2022

Thursday Aug 04, 2022

My guest on this episode is Steve Graber. Steve is a nationally renowned artist who, with his wife and business partner Roxann, has made Kansas his home for over 30 years. He and Roxann became deeply involved with Danger Bob, first as fans and friends, then as backers in a multitude of ways. For instance, Steve is responsible for creating the image on our album Le Pop Shoppe, in all its different forms. All together with the band, we formed Maine Records, one of its founding bylaws being that we would always love each other no matter what. It really can’t be overstated of what a positive force Steve and Roxann were in our lives – always there for advice, a laugh, a hug, a beer, or cry.
